What the Sparted MCP is for
The Sparted MCP lets you manage your Sparted back office simply by writing to an AI assistant, such as Claude. You describe what you want, and the assistant creates or edits content, campaigns, breaking news, and surveys directly on your instance.
For example, a request such as “Create 5 quizzes on cybersecurity for salespeople and prepare a campaign starting on Monday” is enough. The assistant asks any necessary questions, writes the content, shows you what it is about to do, then applies the changes once you approve them.
Important: work on everything in the chat first, including texts, questions, images, and sessions. Only approve the creation in the back office once the final result is ready. More details are available in the “Method” section below.
The MCP works with your existing permissions. It can only see and modify what your Sparted account is already allowed to see and modify in the back office.
Setup: connecting your assistant
The principle is the same everywhere: add the MCP address of your instance as a custom connector, then sign in with your Sparted account. Your MCP address is your instance URL followed by /mcp, for example https://acme.sparted.com/mcp.
Requirements
| Item | What you need to know |
|---|---|
| Compatible assistants | Claude, ChatGPT, Le Chat (Mistral), and Gemini Enterprise. Microsoft Copilot: not available yet |
| Required account | A Sparted account with back-office access to the instance |
| Sparted version | The instance must be running version 5.0.0 or later |
| Disconnecting | Remove the connector from your assistant to revoke access |
Claude (claude.ai, desktop and mobile apps)
Available on all plans. On a Team or Enterprise plan, an administrator from your organization must first add the connector for the team.
- Open claude.ai or the desktop app, then go to Settings, Connectors.
- Click Add custom connector.
- Name:
Sparted. URL:https://your-instance.sparted.com/mcp. Click Add. - Click Connect. The Sparted page opens. Sign in and authorize access.
- In a conversation, make sure Sparted is enabled in the tools menu, using the icon below the message box.
ChatGPT
Requires a paid plan: Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, or Edu. In a Business or Enterprise workspace, an administrator must allow custom connectors.
- Click your profile, then Settings, Apps & Connectors.
- At the bottom of the page, open Advanced Settings and enable Developer Mode.
- Return to Apps & Connectors and click Create.
- Name:
Sparted. URL:https://your-instance.sparted.com/mcp. Authentication: OAuth. - Confirm, then sign in on the Sparted page that opens.
- In a conversation, select the Sparted connector from the + menu in the message box.
Le Chat (Mistral)
Restricted to workspace administrators. On Free, Pro, and Student plans, you are an administrator by default.
- Open the side panel, expand Intelligence, and click Connectors.
- Click + Add a connector, then open the Custom MCP Connector tab.
- Name:
spartedwith no spaces. URL:https://your-instance.sparted.com/mcp. - Click Connect. Le Chat detects the OAuth connection. Sign in on the Sparted page.
- In a conversation, enable the Sparted connector from the list of tools.
Gemini
Only Gemini Enterprise is suitable. The consumer Gemini app only supports custom connectors for personal accounts located in the United States and using English. A Google Workspace administrator must add the MCP server for the organization.
- The administrator adds a custom MCP server in the Gemini Enterprise console, using the URL
https://your-instance.sparted.com/mcp. - Each user then enables it in their connected apps and signs in with their Sparted account.
Microsoft Copilot
Not available yet. This section will be updated once Copilot is supported.
Menus change regularly across platforms. If a menu label has changed, search for “Connectors” or “MCP” in the settings. Sources: Mistral, Gemini, Gemini Enterprise, ChatGPT.
The method: finalize everything in the chat, create it in the back office last
The golden rule: only approve creation once the result is exactly right in the chat. Until you say “yes,” nothing exists in your back office. This is the time to make any changes you want, at no cost and with no risk.
- Ask. Describe what you need: target audience, objective, languages, launch date.
- Read the draft. The assistant writes everything directly in the conversation: questions, answers, explanations, titles, and campaign sessions.
- Make changes in the chat. “Simplify question 3,” “Replace the image for content 2,” “Change the campaign to 4 sessions.” Repeat as many times as needed.
- Approve only once everything looks right. The assistant displays a final preview and waits for your “yes, go ahead.”
- Creation is sent to the back office. The objects appear on your instance, ready to use.
Why this matters: once created, content is already approved and can be used in a campaign. Correcting it afterwards requires another modification, and content used in a campaign can no longer be archived. Correcting something in the chat takes one sentence. Correcting it in the back office requires an additional operation.
This safeguard is enforced by the Sparted server itself. Without your explicit approval, no creation, modification, archiving, or deletion is performed. Each action requires its own approval. Approving content creation does not automatically approve campaign creation. Read-only actions such as listing, searching, or opening items can be performed freely.
What you can do
The assistant can view, create, and edit the five main types of objects in the back office. It can also find royalty-free images to illustrate them.
| Object | View | Create | Edit | Other actions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Topics | View the full hierarchy | Main topic or subtopic | Rename, language by language | Delete, if it has no subtopics |
| Content, questions and games | Search by language, status, or keyword; open content in all its languages | Create several pieces of content at once, directly in approved status | Topic, cover image, questions, translations | Archive |
| Campaigns | Search by language, status, or audience; open a campaign | Create a draft campaign from approved content | Title, description, schedule, sessions, status, languages | Publish, if an audience is assigned |
| Breaking news | Search, open | Create several at once as drafts | Text, media, schedule, push notification, status | Publish, if an audience is assigned |
| Surveys | Search, open | Create several at once as drafts | Title, description, image, dates, notification, status | Publish, if an audience is assigned |
| Images | Search for royalty-free photos on Unsplash | Import them into your media library |
The assistant also has built-in Sparted writing guides for content, campaigns, breaking news, surveys, and images. It follows them automatically, including game formats, text length limits, and learning best practices.
Example requests
Talk to the assistant as you would to a colleague. The more context you provide, such as the audience, objective, and launch date, the fewer questions it will need to ask.
| I want to… | Example request |
|---|---|
| Get an overview | “List my active campaigns in English.” |
| Find content | “Show me the approved content about fire safety.” |
| Create content from a document | “Based on this PDF, create 8 pieces of content for field managers in the Road Safety topic.” |
| Create content from a topic | “Create 5 multiple-choice questions about phishing for new hires, in French and English.” |
| Build a campaign | “Organize these 10 pieces of content into a 5-session campaign, with one session per day starting October 6.” |
| Do everything at once | “On the topic of musculoskeletal disorders, create the content and then a two-week campaign, with a breaking news announcement and a final survey.” |
| Make an announcement | “Write a breaking news post to re-engage players halfway through the campaign.” |
| Gather feedback | “Create a survey to find out what players thought of the Cybersecurity campaign.” |
| Make a correction | “In the ‘Passwords’ content, replace the correct answer with…” |
| Organize content | “Create an Onboarding subtopic under HR.” / “Archive the test content.” |
Before creating content, the assistant will always ask for three things if they have not already been provided: the target audience, the learning objective, and the campaign launch date.
Rules and limitations to know
The MCP prepares everything, but publishing content to learners remains under your control in the back office. Audience assignment and final publication are handled there.
| Object | Status when created | What you need to know |
|---|---|---|
| Content | Approved in all languages | Can immediately be used in a campaign. Each piece of content has a cover image, and every image is unique within a batch |
| Campaigns | Draft, with no audience | You add the audience and publish from the back office. By default, sessions are built by the assistant and use a flexible pace, meaning learners progress at their own pace |
| Breaking news | Draft | Can only be published once an audience has been assigned |
| Surveys | Draft | Only one open-ended question per survey, with no correct answer or score |
Available game types: multiple-choice questions, open-ended questions, error text, cards to reorder, and swipe cards. Each piece of content teaches one idea using one game.
Maximum lengths per language:
| Field | Maximum |
|---|---|
| Content, campaign, breaking news, or survey title | 40 characters |
| Campaign description | 120 characters |
| Breaking news or survey description | 80 characters |
| Multiple-choice question | 200 characters |
| Multiple-choice answer | 60 characters |
| Custom content identifier | 5 characters |
What the MCP cannot do:
- Choose or assign an audience. This must be done in the back office.
- Unarchive content. This must be done in the back office.
- Archive content that is still being used by an active or draft campaign.
- Delete a topic that still contains subtopics.
- View detailed statistics or survey responses.
- Manage users or instance settings.
Frequently asked questions
Can the assistant publish a campaign for me?
No. It creates the campaign as a draft. You assign the audience and publish it from the back office.
I created content by mistake. How can I undo it?
Ask the assistant to archive it. If you want to restore it later, unarchive it from the back office.
A batch creation failed. What was created?
Nothing. Batch creation is all or nothing. The assistant displays the error returned by Sparted, fixes the issue, and shows you the updated preview again.
The assistant is asking me for confirmation even though I already said yes.
Every action that modifies the instance requires its own approval. Saying “yes” to creating the content does not also approve the creation of the campaign.
I can't see my content or campaigns.
Check that the connector is pointing to the correct instance and that your Sparted account has back-office access to it.
The connection is being rejected or has expired.
Remove the connector and add it again, or click Reconnect in your assistant's settings.
